MIŁOSZ GONCZARUK

{About me

In today’s fast-paced world of technological advancements, I believe that the doctors of the future need more computer literacy than how to open a PDF. That’s why I’m dedicated to expanding my knowledge by learning Python and R alongside my medical degree. Being a part of CanEvo offers me a unique platform to apply these skills, analyzing data from cancer tissue samples obtained both directly from patients and grown in our lab.

I aspire to make research a central part of my career, with a particular interest in leveraging increasing computational power and advancing machine learning technologies to tackle some of the greatest challenges in modern medicine (cough cough cancer).

In my free time, I enjoy mountain hiking, which helps me recharge and find inspiration.

Higher Level courses in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics Application and Interpretation and English B, graduated with the final score of 43/45 points and maximum grades achieved in 5 out of 6 studied subjects.

Won E(x)plory competition 2022

2021-2022

With a team of friends from high school, we have qualified to the nationwide final of this competition in inventiveness. There we have presented AquaBox – an automated rainwater quality measuring system. This sustainable solution in effective rainwater management was appreciated by the jury.

MD-degree at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin

2023-present

Every day, I’m immersed in a dynamic environment where cutting-edge research meets hands-on clinical training. The opportunity to learn from world-class professors and collaborate with an international community of peers keeps me constantly inspired.

Student assistant at CanEvo

2024-present

I analyze complex datasets, such as creating OncoPrints to visualize genetic alterations, which deepens my understanding of bioinformatics and its role in research. Alongside this, I am building this website to share team’s findings and resources. This combination of analytical problem-solving and creative development keeps me engaged and constantly learning, while also helping to bridge science and communication.

Student at ICEP Columbia University New York

2024-present

This program allows both cultural and scientific exchange between medical students from around the world. During online seminars, I get to listen to talks by professors from world’s best universities, such as Kings Collage London, or Columbia University in New York.

Speaker at DAAD conference in Warsaw

2024

I spoke at a DAAD event in Warsaw, sharing my experience of studying medicine in Germany with Polish high school students. I discussed the application process, academic life, and opportunities for international students, inspiring them to consider studying abroad.

Attended CompGen 2025

2025

During a three-week course provided by the Berlin Institute of Health, I explored applications of machine learning to address genomics challenges. Using the R packages Voltron and Seurat, I conducted spatial transcriptomics analyses on breast tissue samples. Additionally, I gained initial experience integrating multi-omics datasets through deep learning models built with flexynesis and PyTorch.

Online Workshops for DAAD

2025

During webinars hosted by DAAD, I shared my personal journey to where I am today, aiming to inspire younger students from Poland to keep pursuing their dreams.

Attended Clinicum Digitale in Dresden

2025

This ten-day conference allowed me to connect with engineering and computer science students passionate about pursuing careers in the medical field. I gained valuable insights into the cutting-edge world of medical technology, learned about the startup ecosystem, and had the opportunity to apply my newly acquired deep learning skills in practice.

Sometimes I wonder, how have I ended up here? "Here" being studying medicine abroad in my 3rd language. Well, I don't know, but this lack of knowledge has certainly not stopped me from talking about my journey towards Charité at a DAAD conference for Polish high school students in Warsaw.
